At Making Connections Toowoomba, we’re a multidisciplinary team of experienced special educators, psychologists, and occupational therapists.

We offer a warm, evidence-based, and neuroaffirming approach that helps participants build confidence, connection, and wellbeing in everyday life. NDIS Participants

For participants accessing support through self or plan managed NDIS funding, sessions focus on building functional capacity and addressing the psychosocial impact of disability — including support for emotional regulation, decision-making, emotional regulation, social interactions, coping strategies, and participation in daily life. This may also include caregiver support.

Non-NDIS Participants

For clients who are not accessing NDIS funding, we also provide support for anxiety, depression, stress, and other mental health concerns, helping people understand themselves better and strengthen their wellbeing across home, school, and community settings.

Occupational Therapy

Our Occupational Therapists work with you to identify individual goals and build the confidence and skills to participate more fully in everyday life. Sessions may focus on sensory regulation, organisation and planning, self-care routines, independence, or social participation, depending on each person’s needs. We also work closely with caregivers where appropriate, ensuring strategies are supported and reinforced in everyday environments.

Consultations & Caregiver Workshops

Our consultations and workshops are designed to support parents, caregivers and other support networks such as schools and workplaces. We cover topics such as understanding diagnoses (ADHD and Autism), navigating friendships, building resilience and regulation strategies, mindfulness and positive psychology programs and supporting executive functioning challenges.

These sessions can be offered one-on-one for individual family support, yet are mostly delivered through group caregiver sessions held in person, online, or via webinars, as this also helps to build connections and support networks between caregivers. Information is advertised via our newsletter and social media platforms, or you can email to enquire about school-based supports.

  • Do I need a referral

No, you don't need a GP referral to attend and can self-refer at any time.

  • Do I need NDIS funding to access your services?

No, you don’t need NDIS funding. We welcome all enquiries and work hard to keep our prices affordable and our services flexible so that families without government funding can still access the support they need.

  • Cost? Service Agreement?

Yes, we do require a Service Agreement

We have a Service Agreement in place, which confirms your place and outlines all key details — including fees, cancellations, and how to reschedule sessions.

When you enquire, we can also send you an information sheet. We have one for all of our services and group programs, outlining the type of support, dates, costs, commitment requirements, and other key details to help you decide what’s the best fit.

If you’d like an information sheet please email us (and mention which service or group you are enquiring about).

  • Do you provide assessments & reports?

Yes. We offer a range of assessments and reports tailored to individual needs, including Sensory Profiles, Functional Capacity Assessments, psychometric assessments (e.g. cognitive and adaptive assessments), and more. We also provide NDIS reports to support ongoing funding and goal planning.

Information sheets outlining the associated costs for each type of assessment are available — just contact us and we’ll be happy to provide the details.

  • What if I can't attend?

MCT has a cancellation policy in place to ensure we can best support the families who need our services. If you call, email, or text to cancel more than 48 hours before your session, there is no fee. Cancellations made within 48 hours incur the full session fee, in line with current NDIS guidelines.

We understand that unexpected things can happen and occasional cancellations are sometimes unavoidable. However, if cancellations become frequent, we’ll be in touch to chat about whether this is the right time to continue. Consistency is key to progress, and we want to make sure each family is getting the full benefit of their support.
