Making Connections Toowoomba is a multidisciplinary practice supporting neurodivergent children, teens, and young adults — and their caregivers — to build confidence, connection, and independence. Our warm, neuroaffirming team helps each person develop real-world skills and make connections through evidence-based, engaging programs that make learning meaningful — and fun.

  • Our Mission

    We Are a Neuroaffirming Practice

    • We work with young people who identify as neurodivergent, such as autistic people, those with ADHD, and other neurodevelopmental variations.
    • We see neurodiversity as a natural and valuable part of human diversity.
    • We respect and value the unique neurological differences of each participant.
    • We rejoice in the colour neurodiversity brings to our world.
    • When teaching strategies, our goal is not to ‘fix’ or ‘cure’ participants — because they’re not broken.

    As   Our Mission  states:

We aim to help neurodivergent youth make connections with like-minded peers and build strategies so they can interact within their world with greater comfort, connectedness, and confidence... and have a whole lot of fun along the way!

  • Our Values

We believe our clients and families deserve nothing but the best. We value:

Passion to make a positive difference to the lives of neurodivergent youth and their caregivers.

    Respect for each participant’s uniqueness.

Commitment to helping our participants feels safe to be who they are.

Excellence in all that we do.

Warmth by genuinely caring about and enjoying the young people in our care.

Community by bringing neurodivergent youth and their caregivers together to find their tribe and make lasting connections.

  • Our Spaces

We’ve designed our spaces to match the variety of supports we provide. Whether it’s more room to move in our ‘Big Kahuna room’ with close by access to beautiful Groom Park, the cosy ‘Little Kahuna room’ with its gentle sensory lights and calm, contained feel, or the inviting ‘Hallway Haven room’ with therapeutic lounges and a quiet reading corner — each space offers a sense of comfort, safety, and belonging.

Every room includes calm corners, sensory tools, and break areas so participants can regulate and connect at their own pace. Our clinic also offers wheelchair and pram access, free parking, and is just a short stroll from a park, council tennis courts, and local shops and cafés — perfect for families who’d like a little ‘me time’ while their young person enjoys their MCT time.

  • Intake Process

    2. Initial Contact

We’ll contact you by email, or phone for a brief 5–15 minute chat to discuss suitability and next steps.

    3. Meet Us

o For group programs, we’ll invite you to visit our space and meet the team.

o For therapy services, we’ll arrange an initial consultation.

  • Referrals from Professionals and Other Agencies

You don’t need a GP referral to access our services — families and individuals aged 18 and over are welcome to self-refer.

We also warmly welcome referrals from schools, therapists, doctors, and support coordinators. You’re welcome to share our contact details with families, or get in touch with us directly by phone or email to discuss whether our services might be the right fit.

Information sheets and our Service Handbook are available on request. We also encourage referrers to visit our clinic, meet our team, and see our spaces — we find this helps everyone feel confident in who they’re referring and allows us to work together to support each young person in the best possible way.
